18th Annual Salute to America
July 1-4, 2010 (6pm to 10pm)
Celebrate America with the DSO
Join us in Greenfield Village as we strike up the band for our spectacular concert series, Salute to America. Walnut Grove historic district is transformed into a patriotic sea of red, white and blue as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra presents a rousing program of American musical favorites in celebration of Independence Day. Picnic, relax, enjoy the music and get ready for one of the area’s finest fireworks finales. Members of The Henry Ford receive discount admission for this event.

Program highlights:
Gates open at 6:00pm for general public.
Pre-concert musical entertainment
Kids activities including 19th-century lawn games and a special visit from members of Greenfield Village’s historic baseball teams!
Prelude Concert.
Detroit Symphony Orchestra concert.
Amazing fireworks finale accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture! with live cannon fire.
We regret there can be no refunds, even in the event of inclement weather. All programs and artists subject to change. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted unless purchased on site. A complete list of entrance policies will be included with your tickets.

what to bring, what to wear
Greenfield Village is spread over dozens of acres-- the location of the concert stage is in Walnut Grove (approximately 1/2 mile from the front gates of Greenfield Village). Comfortable clothing and comfortable walking shoes are a must. The concert will be held outdoors, rain or shine. Dressing for the weather is a must. Bring umbrellas / rain gear and prepare for a wide range of temperatures.
Lawn seating only. Seating will not be provided! We recommend you bring folding chairs or lawn blankets.
Wheelchairs can be rented, but must be rented in advance of the event-- please inquire when purchasing tickets, or call the call center at 313-982-6001 to make a reservation. You are welcome to bring your own wheelchair or scooter, however, upright scooters (Segways) are not allowed on premises. You are welcome to bring your own children's stroller or wagon, however, recreational scooters, bicycles or in-line/in-sole skates are not allowed inside the Village gates.
Bring a camera; photography is allowed in all areas of the Village.
Please do not bring alcoholic beverages; outside alcohol is not permitted. All packages will be searched for alcohol at the Village gates. Beer and wine are available for purchase inside Greenfield Village.
Attire is business casual to casual.

Tickets to Salute to America are available online, through The Henry Ford Call Center (open 7 days a week, 9am - 5pm) 313-982-6001 and at all admissions counters. Tickets can be mailed when reservations are made 2 weeks or more in advance. Tickets purchased less than 2 weeks out will be held at Village Will Call. General ticket holders enter at Greenfield Village main entrance gates.
VIP Tickets include priority front-stage seating and parking passes to Eagle Tavern Parking Lot (closer to the event field). VIP ticket holders may enter from Eagle Lane Gate and drive around the back of the Village to the Eagle Tavern Parking Lot.

The Henry Ford is located in Dearborn, Michigan on the corner of Village Road and Oakwood Boulevard, just west of the Southfield Freeway (M-39) and south of Michigan Avenue (US-12).

From the East or West via I-94:
Take I-94 to the Oakwood Blvd exit; go north on Oakwood. The Henry Ford is 2.5 miles from the exit on the corner of Village Rd and Oakwood Blvd.
From the South via I-75:
Exit to northbound Southfield Freeway (M-39), drive 4.1 miles to Oakwood Boulevard (Exit 4). Left on Oakwood and drive 1.8 miles.
From the North via Southfield Road (or I-96):
Take Southfield Freeway (M-39) South 4.5 miles past I-96 and exit at Michigan avenue (Exit 6). Continue on the Southfield service drive (veer left) for .5 miles. At the first stop light, turn right onto Village Road (through the iron gates) and drive 3/4 miles.
Eagle Tavern parking lot is located directly behind the Tavern inside Greenfield Village. Use the Village Road entrance on the corner of Village Road and Eagle Lane. Stop at the security gate to check in, then drive around the back of the Village to Eagle Tavern.
